Broadband by Satellite from Big Dish

One of the companies that I met at the Riberac show was Big Dish Satellite. They provide UK and French satellite TV and broadband Internet connections. At the show, they had set up a dish and had an active Internet connection. The picture I have included here shows some of the equipment used to make the link and if you look really carefully you will see this website on the laptop screen.

Their equipment can be used in conjunction with hubs and WiFi units so that you can connect more than one computer. The link is good enough to run Skype.

From their website...

The satellite equipment used has been developed by Astra and Newtec ... it consists of an 80cm satellite dish, an Interactive LNB (iLNB) which sends and receives data and the Astra2Connect modem. All the equipment necessary to install the equipment is included in the kit and that includes 30 metres of cable and a 'Point and Play' alignment meter. The only item not included is a wall or patio mount

Interestingly, according to Big Dish Satellite, the rate of installations for broadband has risen and they are doing more than ever. Shows that France Telecoms coverage is still not good enough.
