One of the problems faced by those who maintain a home in France but are not year round resident is that you have to pay for your Internet connection whether you are using it or not. Well according to Craig at This French Life, you may now have an option...
The company's Ligne Résidence Secondaire enables you to suspend your line rental payment a maximum of six times a year, for a minimum period of at least one month (and at maximum one year) at a cost of €4.69.
This feature could prove useful for those who spend longer periods of time in their home throughout the year and with a simple dial-up internet connection you could still access emails if required.
The comments left on Craig's article adds extra info, you will need a regular contract with France Telecom and they don't always switch it on when you need it.
